How Does a Web Guiding System Work?
A sensor measures the position of a web edge or a printed reference feature. The controller compares that measurement with the target position and commands an actuator to move the guiding frame or roll stand. Continuous position feedback allows the system to correct lateral drift while the web travels through the machine.
The core components are the web guide sensor, controller, actuator and guiding mechanism.
EPC, LPC and Center Guiding Options
- Edge Position Control (EPC): Tracks one material edge to maintain its lateral position.
- Line Position Control (LPC): Tracks a printed line or suitable contrast boundary when the process must follow a feature within the web.
- Center Guiding: Maintains the web center position using a compatible sensor arrangement and controller.
