How Does a Magnetic Particle Clutch Work?
An excitation coil creates a magnetic field inside the clutch. Magnetic particles in the working gap form a connection between the driving and driven members, allowing torque to pass through. Adjusting the coil current changes the transmitted torque and helps regulate winding tension. Because slip produces heat, model selection must also account for operating speed and duty cycle.
